Caution about using oil of oregano & a testimonial

I have posted in my previous posts, I am NOT a doctor. However, I am also not promoting oil of oregano ( I have absolutely ZERO affiliation with any company- I'm just a stay at home mom trying to share my journey ) or puriya cream. These are just the products I used that helped clear my daughter and others that have eczema. I also know, this doesn't work for everyone either. I am just sharing my own personal journey so please use your own discretion whether or not this regiment is for you/your child.

Warning about oil of oregano

As for oil of oregano, this is a VERY POTENT OIL.  If you do not dilute this with olive oil, it will BURN your skin rather than help it. Do not feed it to your child either. It is way too strong for their little tummy's to handle. Lastly, do not put it near their eye. It will sting like no other. I used a TINY and I mean at first almost a tiny amount that could have seemed somewhat insignificant at first when I used this on my baby. But, I found that even with that tiny amount- it helped with my baby's weeping eczema. Here are some facts to read about oil of oregano that I found. Sorry, it's so ghetto. I'm not a professional blogger so I'm just putting links to some of the articles I read below. My point is, please do your own research and see if this is for you.

Once the eczema is gone, you do not need to keep applying the oil of oregano mix onto the skin. You can just hydrate with the puriya cream. We still use that on my daughter because it's a good cream in general. We stopped using the oil of oregano mix a long time ago. I only used it on her if she had random flare ups. I called it my natural "steroid" mix. It went away within days which was so nice to see.

With that said, I am going to share a couple of pictures of my friend's daughter who started developing eczema at 2 months. She contacted me before going to the pediatrician because she didn't want to start using steroids on her 2 month old. These are the pictures she sent of her daughter's before and after. She wanted me to share just to show that even a 2 month old can use oil of oregano as long as it is heavily diluted. Also, she used the puriya cream to moisturize. That's all she used to clear up her daughter's skin in less than a month. I am so happy that this worked for her baby as well. If you use this regiment, please send me any before and after pictures. It helps to know that it is working for others as well.

This is what her oil of oregano + olive oil mix looked like. It is majority olive oil in here. Like 99%.

Here is how she looked before she used anything

March 12, 2018. No more eczema

  1. hi, can you tell me the proportion you used of oregano oil and olive oil? my 4 month old son has been one steroids for 1.5 months it seems for eczema. would love to try an organic approach. TIA!

    1. I sent you an email! Let me know if you received it :)

  2. Hmm no I didn’t receive any emails from you. Can you please resend?

    1. I will re-write what I wrote in the email here.

Sorry for the late response. I didn't see this until now.

My proportion was 5 Tablespoons of olive oil to 1 tiny drop of oil of oregano. I did this ratio because the oil of oregano I used wasn't 100% oil of oregano. It was already diluted in olive oil. However, if you are using 100% you will need to dilute it more. Also, every kid is different ( and the severity ) so if it seems like your baby's skin looks red/swollen it means
you need to dilute it more as well. If that's the case, I recommend 8 Tablespoons of olive oil to 1 tiny drop of olive oil. This is a lot of olive oil but it's to be safe since oil of oregano is very potent.

The best way to test whether or not you need to dilute it more is by putting a very small amount on your son's eczema. His skin will react almost immediately.

I hope this answered your question. If you have any other questions, let me know! I know how frustrating it is to deal with eczema. This really worked for my baby. I just want to let you know, my baby still had eczema on and off until she was 12 months. However, I was so happy to not use steroids when she had a flare up, and it was never as severe as when she first had it.

Please keep me posted about your baby!

  3. Hi, I noticed that when I put the mix on his face, it started weeping profusely. Does that mean the oregano is too strong and I need to dilute more? Has this ever happened to you?

    1. Hello. Sorry for the late response. Was it weeping before? Did it get worse? The weeping stopped once we put the oil of oregano on for my daughter. What was your ratio for oil of oregano to olive oil? In the beginning we diluted it a lot just to be safe. Later, I put in more oil of oregano and she was ok. This has never happened to me or any of the people that used it. Let me know if it's gotten better or worse. Sorry to hear that it was weeping more.

  5. Hi Herie!

The power of word of mouth! I met this friend at a boba shop a few days ago. I had my son with me whose been battling eczema since birth. She shared your remedy, photos and blogpost in hopes it would help our son too. We are on day 3 and the results have been nothing short of amazing. I wish I had taken her information down to share my sincere gratitude. It’s made our itchy sleepless nights disappear overnight. Thank you from the random girl at the boba shop!!

    1. Hello! Wow! I am thrilled to hear that someone shared my blog to you and it helped :) This is exactly why I made my blog. So glad it helping. Just to let you know, the eczema does come back. However, you can always use this to control the flare ups. I used this until she was almost 10 months and then it naturally started going away. Until then though, I was so happy I didn't have to use steroid cream to keep it under control. Yay for the person you met at boba. Please keep me posted about how it is working!
